Sale of CMB 123 to the Netherlands
CMB 123 was one of the 40’ CMBs built for the Royal Navy during World War I, by Thornycroft at Hampton as hull number 1691. It was delivered to the RN on 14 May 1920, and subsequently paid off into reserve at Portsmouth on 21 September 1923. On 30 October 1923 she was allocated to Hood for the 1924 Special Service Squadron World Cruise, however this did not occur, and CMB 43 (later renamed CMB 123) was used instead.
The original CMB 123 was retained by Thornycroft, and then in 1926 (some references state 1928) she was sold to the Royal Netherlands Navy.
