Proposed sale of Enchantress to Romania
HMS Enchantress was a 3,470-ton yacht built in 1903 for the Royal Navy, for use by members of the Admiralty Board. She was not listed as carrying any armament. In 1931 the Romanian Naval Attache enquired about the purchase of the Enchantress for use as a yacht. The Admiralty considered that they were required to take adequate steps to preclude the possibility of it becoming a vessel of war in the navy of another power, and that there appeared to be no room for doubt that they could not dispose of the Enchantress for use as a yacht.
