HMS Thistle – Purchase by Liberia
HMS Thistle was a first-class gunboat of 710 tons built in 1899, and in 1922 was armed with two 4-inch guns and two 3-pdrs. In 1924, it was proposed to sell Thistle to the Liberian government. The proposal was rejected by the Admiralty on the grounds that it would be a breach of the Washington Naval Treaty. Thistle was ultimately sold for scrapping in 1926.
