US Offer to sell Pre-Dreadnoughts to Portugal.
According to Siegfried Breyer, shortly before the signing of the Washington Naval Treaty, the US offered five Connecticut class battleships for sale. Portugal declined the offer, allegedly partly due to the impression made by the US battleship Utah which had visited Lisbon a short time before.
