TNA ADM Files

The following table lists the ADM files from The National Archives in Kew, London, that I hold documents from. The files are categorised as:

1. Copy Held – I believe I have a copy of the entire file.
2. Part Copy – Could mean anything from I have a small extract, to I actually have the entire file, but haven’t been able to confirm it. The number in parentheses is an estimate of the number of pages I have from the file.
3. Document obtained from alternate source – I have a copy of what I believe is the document held in the TNA file, however I obtained it from a different repository (normally applies to manuals).

Ships Logs from the ADM 53 series are held in a separate table that can be viewed here.

Note that some of these files were provided to me by other researchers, and I may be unable to share them without obtaining specific consent from the original photographer.

In total, I have over 600,000 pages of documents from ADM files – which may sound like a lot, but in reality it is just a drop in the ocean!

But if you are planning on retrieving documents from ADM files in the National Archives, then it may pay to check whether I already hold some of the files you are planning to copy. It may be advantageous to come to an arrangement beforehand whereby you copy alternative files, and then we ‘exchange’ documents afterwards.
