The main attraction at Phra Chulachomklao Fort is Mae Klong - an interesting Japanese built corvette (1936), which managed to pack four 4.7" guns, two twin torpedo tubes, mine rails, and a seaplane into just 1400 tons. The ship is mounted in concrete within a defence training establishment, and it seems to have a permanent crew onboard, who keep everything very well painted. Also here is the original 19th century fort with 7 guns in disappearing mounts (not all the guns are still there though), and an extensive exhibit park containing a wide range of guns - from a complete turrets down to machine guns, as well as other exhibits. The fort is about a one-hour drive from central Bangkok (provided you avoid peak hour) - It cost me 1,000 baht (about A$40) for a taxi to take me there, wait for an hour while I photographed everything, and then take me back (note you have to pay the taxi to wait - you would never be able to get a cab from there).
