Sale of RFA Industry
RFA Industry was the former 560-ton merchant vessel Tay and Tyne completed in 1909. She was requisitioned by the Admiralty on 28 June 1917, used as a Q-ship during World War I, and classified as a Store Carrier in 1922. On 26 March 1924, the Head of M advised that RFA Industry was not considered to be a vessel of war within the meaning of Article 18 of the Washington Treaty. On 16 September 1924 she was offered for sale ‘as lies’ at HM Dockyard Chatham. She was sold on 19 November 1924 to James Kell of Sunderland, and then sold on to Norwegian owners in 1925. She was ultimately sold for scrapping in 1951.
