Proposed sale of Warships to Venezuela
In January 1922, during the course of the WNC, the British Foreign Office telegrammed the British Ambassador in Washington to consult with the British Empire Delegation regarding whether there were any objections to the completion of negotiations which had been in progress for some time for the sale of certain light cruisers and destroyers to Venezuela. The British Empire Delegation responded that it would be unwise to proceed with the proposed sale until it was known what form the final naval agreement would take, and negotiations were subsequently broken off once the final form of the agreement had been determined.
