The second museum I intended to visit today was the Turin branch of Associazione nazionale marinai d'Italia, which have a museum which includes the conning tower and about 50ft of casing from the submarine Andrea Provana - a World War 1 Italian submarine. It was originally placed here for the 1928 World Exhibition and subsequently taken over by the Associazione. According to the Internet it was going to be open this afternoon, however the place was all locked up and there was no sign of anyone. Around the site they had a fair number of artifacts including torpedo tubes, torpedoes, mines, radar displays, radar antennae, torpedo coffins etc - all of which can be seen from the perimeter fence. They may well have more items inside, but I guess I'll never know. A bit disappointing having driven all the way to Turin just to see it, but I guess it gives me an excuse to come back to this part of the world.
