Date visited 10 September 2022

The former HMAS Otama was anchored in Westernport for quite a while, while a local group (Victorian Maritime Centre) tried and get funding to bring her ashore to be the main feature of a maritime museum.  But when I visited in 2022 she was rusting away in the bay, while they have a small museum in a nearby building (which unfortunately was closed when I dropped by).  A year or so previously the boat had developed a serious list due to flooding of one or more ballast tanks, and the local maritime authority was threatening to tow it away, however she was still there, and she appeared to be back on an even keel. Unfortunately, a short while after I visited, Otama was towed away and scrapped.
